How to avoid scams when looking for work in Poland

Last reviewed: 1 November 2026

Warning signs

  • They ask for money upfront to "guarantee" the permit, the visa or the job.
  • They promise unusually high pay without clear conditions.
  • They have no company name, KRS/NIP or address in Poland.
  • They communicate only by messages and avoid giving a written contract.
  • They pressure you to decide and pay quickly.

How to verify a company

  1. Ask for the company name, NIP and KRS and look them up in the official register (KRS).
  2. Demand the contract in writing, in a language you understand, before you travel.
  3. Check that the phone numbers and emails match those on its official website.
